Dr. Dornan became interested in fetal medicine during her residency and training program and was drawn to the idea of specialising in fetal diagnosis and treatment because of its multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach to problem solving.
“When patients arrive at hostpital, we care for them from pre-pregnancy, prenatal diagnosis through the postpartum period and beyond. Our hope and goal is to normalize and individualise the experience for each patient and their family, knowing that although their unborn baby may have a potential birth defect, expertise is at hand,”she says. “It’s the best experience I have had, observing how our patients and their
families personify grace, with how they cope at what is often one of the most difficult times of their lives.”
Dr. Dornan has an MD degree from Queen’s University Belfast, UK, where she completed her five year training program. This included a
period at St. George’s Hospital London, where she subsequently obtained her first consultant position in 2009.
Dr. Dornan is the first female Maternal Fetal Medicine sub Specialist, from the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist,
London to be here in Dubai. In 2017 she received a Fellowship from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, London.
